Update #6 Friends of Kings Cross 20th March 2025
A very quick update to all our Friends:
Planning Application deadline extended! Now Friday 28th March 2025
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted comments on the planning application for Change of Use to the buildings at Whitefield Farm 25/00046/PP. Many of you have taken the time to share your responses with us too, which is very much appreciated. It is clear that there is great strength of feeling on this issue, and that you want the farmhouse and cottage to remain as integral accommodation for the farm and not as the first step to a major industrial development at Whitefield.
A few people have reported difficulties accessing comments via the online portal, and as a result of this issue, North Ayrshire Planning have kindly agree to extend the deadline for comments by one week to Friday 28th March 2025.
So if you wish your voice to be heard, then please do get your comment in as soon as you can.
The online portal is available here: https://www.eplanning.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/OnlinePlanning/search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application
And the planning application number is 25/00046/PP
Public Meeting write up in the Arran Banner
Many thanks to Colin Smeeton, Editor of the Arran Banner who kindly gave up most of his Sunday afternoon to attend our public meeting in Whiting Bay Village Hall. Follow the link above to Colin’s excellent and very interesting piece with a beautiful photo illustrating the area where FLS might end up constructing a new pier.
Our view is that the unique and breathtaking landscape of King’s Cross is entirely the wrong location for an industrial development, and we will work as hard as we can to convince FLS that the right place for timber exports from Arran is Market Road in Brodick.
As ever, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your comments or questions.
Kind regards
Friends of Kings Cross
